Orchestra of Square Chapel

Orchestra of Square Chapel is the resident orchestra at Square Chapel Arts Centre in Halifax. Conducted by their ambitious conductor, Robert Guy, the orchestra pride themselves on delivering interesting programmes for chamber orchestra.

The Orchestra has been in operation since 1998. The orchestra has had an eventful history and is proud to have several World Premieres to its name. As well as performances been heard on BBC Radio 3 as part of the Listen Up Festival of British and Contemporary Composers.

Robert Guy

is the conductor of the Orchestra of Square Chapel and the Artistic Director of the award-winning New Sinfonia and Tutor in Conducting at the University of Huddersfield.

The New Sinfonia was appointed as Orchestra in Residence at the ‘North Wales International Music Festival’ 2016. Last year, Robert was invited to be Conductor in Residence at the ‘Inspire Arts Festival’ held in Jeju, South Korea. He was also invited to conduct at the RNCM, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Berliner Philharmoniker Ensemble, and the Berlin Sinfonietta.
